A HOTEL WITH HISTORY
Hotel Las Cortes de Cádiz is a typical Palace House of Shippers to the Indies, located in the city centre, the old town of Cadiz.
It was built in the 19th century for the Marquis de la Cañada, who devoted to maritime trade. The works ended in 1859, as can be seen in the entrance gate.
The building has a ground floor with an inner courtyard, where formerly dances were held, the first floor, for the administration; the second floor belonged to the nobility and the third, to the staff. Crowning the building rises a 19th-century Lookout Tower, from which the watchman sighted the loads that came from America when the ships arrived at the Port of Cadiz.

The illustrious writer Hans Christian Andersen stayed at the hotel while visiting Cadiz in 1862, when it was called La Fonda de París.
